Overview of Silk Air:
Silk Air is a regional airline. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. The airline was founded in 1976 as Tradewinds Charters, The airline was renamed Silk Air on 1st April 1992 and it commenced operations in 1992 as a full-fledged regional carrier. Silk Air operates passenger flights from Singapore to 49 cities in Southeast Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, China and Australia. Being a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, Silk Air operates on short haul destinations in the Singapore Airlines Group network. Silk Air has its hub at Singapore Changi Airport.
Fleet:
Silk Air operates flights to its 49 destinations on a fleet of 29 aircrafts. Silk Air’s fleet comprises of four Airbus A319-100, eleven A320-200 and fourteen Boeing 737-800. These aircrafts are perfect for short haul operations. Silk Air has placed an order of 41 aircrafts which include ten Boeing 737-800 and thirty one Boeing 737 MAX 8s which will replace the existing Airbus A319-100s and A320-200.

Cabin Classes:
Inspite of being a regional carrier, Silk Air offers two cabin classes on board its aircrafts. The two cabin classes are Business Class and Economy Class.
Passengers travelling Business Class have the option to relax, work or sleep. Luxurious leather upholstered seats are ergonomically designed with pitch capabilities of 39-40 inches. These seats provide ample legroom and let you stretch your legs and unwind on the flight. Business Class passengers have access to Silk Air lounges at the airports.

Luggage Allowance:
Silk Air allows free check-in luggage. Check in baggage depends on the class and route of travel. On majority of routes passengers travelling Economy Class are allowed to check in 20 kgs of luggage, whereas passengers travelling Business Class are allowed to check in 30 kgs of luggage. Infants are allowed a check-in luggage allowance of 10 kgs.
