Jodhpur is the second largest city in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is called the Gateway to Thar, as it is literally on the edge of the Thar desert. The place was first known as Karnapur, and during the course of the journey, the name became Kanpur. Another legend has it that it was originally known as Kanhaiyapur after Lord Krishna , and over a period of time, it got its present name.
