About Pondicherry City

"The French Riviera of the East"
Its French legacy is preserved in its French Quarter, with tree-lined streets, mustard-coloured colonial villas and chic boutiques. A seaside promenade runs along the Bay of Bengal and passes several statues, including a 4m-high Gandhi Memorial. Now known as Puducherry and commonly referred as just Pondy, is one of the seven Union Territories of India. The charming confluence of age-old heritage and modern advancement. It is a place where crowds find spiritual enlightenment on the beach as well as indulge in leisurely days of sun, sand and sea.
