Lush green scenery can be seen during the monsoon season. Winters are mildly cold and light, with minimal protective clothing. The lowest expected temperature is around 20 degrees Celsius.

The river island of Majuli, which is world's largest river island, is just 20 km away from this town and it can be accessed by ferries from Nimati Ghat.
