About Pondicherry City

"The French Riviera of the East"
Its French legacy is preserved in its French Quarter, with tree-lined streets, mustard-coloured colonial villas and chic boutiques. A seaside promenade runs along the Bay of Bengal and passes several statues, including a 4m-high Gandhi Memorial. Now known as Puducherry and commonly referred as just Pondy, is one of the seven Union Territories of India. The charming confluence of age-old heritage and modern advancement. It is a place where crowds find spiritual enlightenment on the beach as well as indulge in leisurely days of sun, sand and sea. The old French flavour is distinctly visible. Endowed with immense natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, Pondicherry is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in India.
