Catching some shut-eye on a plane is no easy feat. The good news is that there are some easy tricks you can do before and during your flight to help fall (and stay) asleep before you touch down to your destination. Some clever tips to help you catch some Z’s on your next flight. Happy travelling!!
Do these before your flight, so catching some shut-eye is a bit easier - eat less than usual, get a little less sleep.
What should you do when the snack
alley comes along, to help better your sleep? Avoid it!!! If you must eat, try nabbing some cereal, pretzels something carb-heavy an hour or so before you sleep.
What's a great way to repurpose your carry-on for sleeping purposes? stick your carry ‘on back underneath the seat in front of you. Plop your feet on top and voila! You now have footrest. Not only will this help create a much more comfortable seeping position for you, but it will also keep your fele elevated to avoid swelling.
If given the choice, you should try and choose a seat in this area for more leg room: window seat to the left side (if facing the cockpit) according to skyscanner poll, the left side of the plane has more leg more than the right. This is because the window seats are a bit off centre, giving you a little bit more leg room.
What's the best way to wear your neck pillow while you're sleeping on a plane?Flipping that neck pillow around and putting your neck pillow under your chin instead of behind your neck, helps support your head while you’re sleeping. When you doze off and your head lolls forward, your handy- dandy neck pillow is there to support it!
Distracting noises keeping you up? What can you listen to, to help block it all out?White noise actually helps you stay asleep too! Rainfall sounds are also a great way to tune out the world while you’re trying to sleep!
Drinking lots of water will allow you to sleep much better, and feel more awake rather than lousy and drained. So, the next time the flight attendant passes your seat be sure to ask for more H2O
Cosy clothing is key! Who wants to be stuck in tight, itchy and uncomfortable outfit while stuck on a long flight. Wearing loose fit, comfy clothing can make a long flight so much better.
Compressing socks are the bestway to prevent swelling and aching. Wearing compression socks slightly squeeze the legs to increase circulation and prevent swelling and blood clotting.
Hit the gym! Exercising can do wonders before taking a long trip.
